
The ninth installment of the Resident Evil franchise came out on February 27th, 2026. Returning to the screen, Leon Scott Kennedy was seen previously in Resident Evil 2, 4, and 6. We are also given a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft guiding us through the story.
The first Resident Evil game, also known as Biohazard in Japan was released March 22nd, 1996 in Japan and March 30th 1996 in America. Since then, the Resident Evil franchise blew up making around 30 different games, including the main story lines, remakes, and spinoffs. They also created a movie loosely based on the game. Resident Evil; Requiem is a continuation of the main story line.
The game’s opening sequence starts with Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Ashley Ashcroft from Resident Evil; Outbreak. Grace is a FBI agent investigating peculiar murders of the survivors of the Raccoon City incident, before getting kidnapped by ex-umbrella scientist Victor Giden. Leon Kennedy, working as a DSO agent, also investigating the murders which seem to be linked to a virus, known as the T-Virus. Leon finds Grace as she’s getting kidnapped and goes to help her out of Gidon’s clinic center. The game has a duel pov between Grace and fan-favorite, Leon Kennedy, as they work together to solve this case, take down the T-Virus and antagonist Gidon.
