Following her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, pop star Britney Spears has entered rehab.
Confirmed by her representative on April 12, 2026, Spears is “going to take the right next steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
On March 4, 2026, Spears was arrested outside of Los Angeles County. She was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Allegedly showing “signs of impairment,” she was reported to authorities for driving her BMW on a motorway “erratically at a high rate of speed,” said California Highway Patrol.
In a statement on March 6, 2026, the star’s representative referred to her arrest as “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.” While also adding information about how her family and loved ones will be coming up with a plan to set her up for success and well-being.
The singer has a court hearing scheduled for May 4. Although nothing has been said directly about the case by Britney herself, she has posted a couple of things on Instagram, thanking her fans for their support and encouraging all to stay kind.
“Thank you guys for all your support… Spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind!!!”
