After four years of solo work,BLACKPINK recently released their newest EP, “DEADLINE”, on February 27th, 2026. This is their third EP, or mini-album. The album consists of five songs: “JUMP”, which was originally released in July of 2025, “GO”, “Me and my”, “Champion”, and “Fxxxboy”. The album is a total of 14 minutes and 52 seconds.
BLACKPINK is a girl group under the brand YG Entertainment, consisting of four members- Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa. The band was formed in 2016, and have since released two studio albums (The Album and Born Pink), three EP’s, and multiple single songs.
Their last album and release was in 2022, with the album Born Pink. Since then, each of the girls has gone on to build their solo careers. In 2025, Jennie released her album “Ruby”, and went on to perform at Coachella, the first time in her solo career. She also was starred in the HBO Series “The Idol”. Rosé went on to release her hit song “APT” with Bruno Mars, and later released her debut album “rosie”. Jisoo also released her own album “AMORTAGE”, as well as starring in many hit K-Dramas. Lisa appeared in season three of the hit show “The White Lotus”, as well as releasing her own album “Alter Ego” in 2025.
With the release of DEADLINE, they published two music videos, for their songs “JUMP” and “GO”. Both have a similar dystopian, sci-fi vibe, with lots of out of this world, animated shots. This is very different for the girls- most of their MV’s consist of long solo shots that transition into shots of them dancing. These two music videos, however, focused more on animated shots and the background dancers, rather than the girls themselves.
The EP itself is unlike their previous releases- while they had their usual mix of slower melodies, their hype songs were unlike their usual songs. “JUMP”, the first song on the album, was inspired by American Western films, but with a modern beat. It had catchy guitar chords and heavy back beats. “GO” was very electronic, yet so catchy; it was hard to stop listening. “Me and my”, the third song on the EP, was full of high hats and quick beats, as well as lots of trumpet and drums. The song focuses on vibing with your girlfriends, and is again, very catchy. As you continue to “Champion”, it transitions from headbanger to straight vibes, with more notes of guitar and singing, rather than hard beats. Finally, the EP ends with the song “Fxxxboy”. This song focuses on strong guitar, with almost no back beat, and mostly just straight vocals.
Last year, the girls went on tour for this album (even though it was not released yet). They sang their solos, as well as the only song from this EP out at the time, “JUMP”.
The EP is worth listening to, especially if you want some good head bangers. It’s also worth checking out the girls’ solo songs- they will all become staples in your playlist!
