After starring in Disney’s Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires as Nova, 16-year-old British singer and actress Freya Skye has become one of the most popular and successful teenagers in her generation. She just released her first EP, Stardust, on February 4th, and her Stars Align tour began on February 6th. Every song on the EP has surpassed 1 million streams, and every city on her 19-city tour has sold out. With these stats, Skye could be considered the biggest up-and-coming artist right now.
Stardust contains five songs: silent treatment, petty, golden boy, maybe tomorrow, and why’d you have to call. All the songs are upbeat, catchy pop melodies, except for maybe tomorrow, which is one of her only slow, more emotional songs. Her lyrics are very heartfelt and relatable, telling about the life of being a teenage girl, making her music very popular not only among young Disney fans but also among young adult women.
There has been a lot of controversy on what, or who, her songs are about, though. After a minor scandal with co-stars Malachi Barton, Kylie Cantrall, and Malia Baker, fans speculated that each song could be about what happened. However, many people also think that she is trying to stay out of the drama and be her own person.=
Fortunately, Skye just announced on February 11th that the Stars Align tour will be going worldwide starting in June. She will be visiting more cities in the USA, Australia, and all over Europe. She said that she would be hitting the USA by September, so hopefully, she will come to the Cincinnati area, too.
This is just the beginning of her career, and fans are excited to see what she does with her talent in the future.
