The horror franchise Scream is finally getting its 7th installment since 2023. Scream 7 is an upcoming slasher film directed by Kevin Williamson. Although many fans are excited for this film, a lot are skeptical about the controversy surrounding it.
WHO’S IN IT?
Scream 7 marks the return of highly anticipated actors and actresses. One of them is Neve Campbell, who has played the final girl, Sidney Prescott, in the first four films of the franchise. She leads this cast with other legacy actors like Courteney Cox, who plays Gale Weathers, an iconic reporter and author, and Matthew Lillard, who played one of the original killers, Stu Macher. Previous Ghostface Scott Foley, who played Roman Bridger, will return from Scream 3. Many people are wondering how the directors are going to utilize these already deceased characters, like Stu Macher or Roman Bridger. Even Actor Scott Foley said, “I’m willing to take a poll here, and someone can explain it to me because I don’t know how it works out.” He was also unsure about how he was going to be used. Many fans were outraged when the two stars from the previous two films would not return for Scream 7. Melissa Barrera was fired because of comments she made on social media. The following day, Jenna Ortega announced that she was leaving the franchise, which made fans sad because they were supposed to continue the storyline. The director, Kevin Williams, took directing duties because when the two actresses left, the director Christopher Landon stepped down from the project, saying that with them leaving, he wasn’t able to work on the narrative he wanted to tell.
WHAT’S THE MOVIE ABOUT?
Sidney Prescott has built a new life in a town called Pine Grove, Indiana. But a new Ghostface emerges and begins to target her daughter, Tatum. Sidney is forced to confront her past again to save her child. Scream 7 is set to release on February 27th and is going to be a horror/mystery-packed film.
