
As Disney releases new live action versions of familiar movies, fans have continuously debated who should be cast in Disney’s live action, Tangled. Four days ago, on January 7th, 2026, Disney announced the official casting for the two main characters.
The studio announced that our upcoming Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will be played by Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim. Croft is most known for her role in Titans as Raven, while Manheim is best known for his role in Disney’s Zombies series as Zed. Along with these names, Kathryn Hahn is now in talks to play the role of Mother Gothel as well.
Previously, the director of The Greatest Showman, Michael Gracey has also been announced as the director of this upcoming movie. Kristin Burr, who produced last summer’s Freakier Friday, is also producing this live action adaption and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for Thor: Love and Thunder, has written the script too. Thankfully, after being shelved in April 2025, production finally resumed in October, 2025. By December, 2025, production was planned to begin in June 2026, taking place in London. Though there is no official release date for this movie, fans can anticipate the release being sometime in 2027.
Additional actors have yet to be announced but many fans are looking forward to seeing who gets cast next seeing what Gracey has in store and will continue to speculate what might be included in the movie.
