Writing Club is a student-led organization that focuses on helping students improve their writing skills and get feedback about their work.
The club’s president is senior Jackson Pawley, and the vice president is sophomore Anna Lietsch.
Leitsch explained that she joined the group because it was an outlet to be creative and make new friends. “School is so busy sometimes that we don’t have time… so having a time to be creative is really important to me.”
Giving students an opportunity to be creative is the main goal of the Writing Club. During meetings, students can sit down, enjoy snacks, and write about whatever they want. Sometimes, optional prompts are given, but ultimately, students choose how they want to spend their time, and sharing their work with others is never required.
All students are welcome in the Writing Club, no matter their skill level. “It’s not just for people who are committed, or like having to work on their novel, it’s also for people who just need to get an essay done or want help,” says Lietsch. She adds that students should join because “It can be really, like, relaxing, and just give you a chance to see what’s in your mind and talk to other people. And there are really good snacks, and you get free notebooks.”
Students can join the Writing Club by joining the club’s GroupMe or simply showing up to the meetings on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 in room 118.
