The long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel comes out on December 5th, 2025. It’s been 2 years since the first movie, and fans are excited to see the new cast members and sequence of events coming to theaters soon. Let’s recap the last movie and what we expect in this upcoming movie!
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2023 Summary
In case you missed it, the first movie follows Mike Schmidt, who lost his job at a mall, and Steve Ragian (a career counselor) gets him a job as the security guard at an abandoned pizza place called “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.” Mike’s little sister, Abby, starts drawing pictures of her “imaginary friends”, which are later revealed to be the old animatronics who live in the pizza place. When Abby gets trapped at the pizza plex, Mike and a local police officer, Vanessa, team up to save her. We finally learn that Steve is Vanessa’s father and the creator of the animatronics. They eventually defeat Steve and save Abby.
Confirmed Cast Members
In December, we can look forward to seeing familiar faces such as Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Shelly, and Matthew Lillard as William Afton, who were all in the first movie. In addition, the new cast members include: Megan Fox, Mckenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich. In recent Comic-Con panels in San Diego and New York, announcements were made involving the upcoming movie. Some key reveals include the trailer of the movie, voice cast for the animatronics, as well as jump scares there will be. Scream actor Matthew Lillard tells the audience, “You guys like the lore, right? Would you like more jump scares? Would you like it to be scarier in general? We did that!”

The trailer for the new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was released on November 5, 2025, and it’s 1 minute and 44 seconds long. Based on the trailer, it is seen that Vanessa starts to have nightmares about her father and the animatronics. Abby is a little older and in school. We also see a clip of Mike saying that Abby went back to the pizza plex to reconnect with her old friends. From there, the horror unfolds, and fans are speculating about whether the movies are based on the books or the games, though it seems like it might be a mix of both. It’s been confirmed that the toy and withered animatronics will be in this new movie, which adds even more to fans’ excitement.
As the release date is approaching, the anticipation is eating away at fans waiting to see more animatronics, lore, and an overall scarier vibe than the first movie. Overall, this movie has gotten a significantly more positive reaction than the first one.
