The Lakota West girls’ basketball team is looking powerful as their starting lineup for the past three years hasn’t changed much–all of their star players are seniors. With a senior class being almost all committed athletes, the starting lineup is looking good for West, and hopefully, they can top some Greater Miami Conference (GMC) teams this year and finally win their conference title.
Senior Class
Starting strong with the senior class, arguably one of their most impactful players who is about to be a 4-year starter, Katie Fox just recently signed to Stephen F. Austin State, a Division 1 university in Nacogdoches, Texas. Caroline Bayliff, another 4 year starter, just signed with Walsh, a Division 2 university in North Canton, Ohio. Both of these seniors have played a crucial role in the Firebirds’ success over the past 3 years, as they have both been long-term starters for Lakota West. Another usual starter for Lakota West, spot-up shooter Sydney Williams, just announced her commitment and signed with Division 1 Wright State University in Greene County, Ohio. Finally, Katelyn Voss, who could arguably be the Firebirds’ 6th man, just announced her commitment to Carleton College, Division 3 in Northfield, Minnesota. You also can’t forget about senior forwards Jayda Neilson and Kennedy Griffin, who both play a crucial role in both the Firebirds’ offense and defense, and will continue to make a huge impact throughout the season.
Overall, the Firebirds have almost all of their returning players and are looking to have a strong season and a good chance at a GMC title.
