Spring means a lot to people. It’s the start of spring cleaning: leaves turn green, flowers bloom, and it gets warmer. For Lakota West students, it means the beginning of a 5-week, drama-filled Nerf Wars. Although extremely hated and strongly advised against by Lakota West Administrators, every year, students find ways to bend the rules and chase their fellow classmates around West Chester to get them out and move on to the next round.
Rules
Nerf war rules are simple, which is hard to believe, as many people break them. You are immune to bullets when naked, and you are not allowed to get outside help. For example, if someone were to get outside help from somebody like a parent or friend, this would result in a disqualification. However, this does not mean fully. Players are allowed to get help from their friends when accessing things like addresses and information about their opponents. Although this may sound dangerous, precautions are in place to keep all players safe. Players are not allowed to shoot from or at moving cars, and are not allowed to shoot somebody at a place where religion is being practiced or where you are practicing sports or working.
Nerf Wars was created to have a fun upperclassmen year, and for students at the school to get to know each other. However, that does not mean that it is what it is used for.
Overall, Nerf Wars can be fun, as long as you are safe, careful, and realize that, in the end, it is just a game.
