The live action “How To Train Your Dragon” movie came out in theaters June 13th, 2025. It was a massive hit, making $83 to 84 million at the domestic box office opening week, and approximately $197.8 million worldwide. It’s based off of the original How to Train Your Dragon, which is an animated movie that was released on March 21st, 2010, which later turned into 2 more movies, TV shows, and more.
How to Train Your Dragon follows the main character, Hiccup (Horrendous Haddock III), son of the chief, a disappointment to his father and the town because he can’t kill a dragon. When the chance arose for him to prove everyone wrong, he couldn’t do it. He’s the first viking who can’t kill a dragon, but he’s also the first to train one. After letting go of the dragon he couldn’t kill, he realized that the dragon (Toothless) was hurt and couldn’t fly. Hiccup helps toothless fly again and in the process learning more about dragons to help him get through trials of being a viking. Suddenly as Hiccup is in danger Toothless goes to save Hiccup, but with Toothless doing that, he puts himself to the rest of the vikings. The viking ends up using toothless to get to the dragon nest but then the queen of the dragon attacks them, hiccup and his friends fly dragons to go to him, their parents helping them take down the queen.
Now it’s time for my review. I thought it was a pretty good movie, I liked how it pretty much followed everything from the original movie. The actors were really good. I love how they brought back Gerard Butler for Stoick the vast, which he was the original voice actor for Stoick in the animated version. Mason Thames, who plays Hiccup did an amazing job, though i think his voice was a little plain, and didn’t have that Hiccup accent, i think he still did an amazing job for bringing hiccup to life
