What is the perfect neighbor?
You might be wondering what The Perfect Neighbor is about. To answer that question, The Perfect Neighbor is a Netflix true-crime documentary based on a real and disturbing case that took place in a so-called “quiet neighborhood.” The film is entirely told through police body camera footage, featuring interviews with both parties involved in a long-running dispute between neighbors that slowly escalated over time. The main people at the center of the story are Susan Lorincz, a 58-year-old white woman, and her neighbor, Ajike “AJ” Owens, a 35-year-old Black woman and a mother of four. who was fatally shot by her neighbor, Susan, for trying to protect her children.
Personal opinion
The Perfect Neighbor is a great documentary to watch. It was incredibly interesting and shocking. There are many different opinions about Susan, the so-called main character, who is viewed very differently by people. Some feel sympathy for her, while others see her actions as completely unjustifiable. Obviously, we will never know the full truth or everything that really happened, but based on what was shown in the documentary, it reveals how a person can take a situation to the extreme and respond with violence, whether out of fear, frustration, or pure animosity. The end felt disappointed, disgusted, and sad, but it was also somewhat relieving that justice was served.
