During this year’s homecoming game for Lakota West, the Colerain Cardinals come to West Chester seeking their first win of the season against the 4-1 Lakota West Firebirds.

Recap of the 2023 Contest

In last year’s game at Colerain, Lakota West scored 38 points in the first half. The starting quarterback, Sam Wiles, was extremely efficient last year with 5 completed passes for 112 and 2 touchdowns. The defense/special teams were making plays all game with 2 INT, 1 touchdown, and holding Colrain’s offense to only 56 yards.

Homecoming Fun and Future Firebird Night 

Not only is this game important for the GMC, but it is also the homecoming game and future Firebird night. Students from Lakota West want to attend this social event to show school spirit for their football team. Students enjoy their time at football games because they have time to socialize, show school spirit, and support their school. It’s an important game for school spirit because it means a lot for the students who have homecoming the next day. Future Firebird night is when elementary students who will attend Lakota West in the future, walk around the football field. This night recognizes the students and gives them a look into their future high school experiences. 

How Families and Friends Will Come Together

This game will illustrate how strong Lakota West pride is and how the community comes together. This night, families, friends, and businesses will help support students on and off the field. Fans of both teams can come together for one cause: to help all students learn and be responsible on and off the field. The Lakota West Band and West Cheer Team will also come together for this game-making halftime so families can watch and enjoy the performance. Overall, fans and friends will enjoy this event and remember it as a time of enlightenment for all.

What We Think Will Happen 

Lakota West will likely blow out the Colerain Cardinals based on statistics. Sam Wiles had a great game against the Cardinals in 2023, and you can expect that success to continue into 2024. Linebacker Cam Thomas at Lakota West has been on a hot streak in 2024 and the Firebirds expect that to continue. This will likely be one more win for the Firebirds to add to their stacked resume come playoff time.
