The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, were electric, starting off with Eminem performing his new songs “Houdini” and “Somebody Save Me (feat. Jelly Roll).”
The artist with the most wins of the night was Taylor Swift, with a total of 7 wins, which included Best Collaboration, Song of the Summer, Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Best Music Video.
Katy Perry was honored with the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and the VMA’s Most Iconic Performance Award. She also performed her songs “Dark Horse,” E.T.,” “California Gurls,” Teenage Dream,” “I Kissed A Girl,” “Firework,” “LIFETIMES,” and a new song called “I’m His, He’s Mine” with Doechii.
Teddy Swims and Jessie Murph were the featured artists on the Extended Play stage (presented by Doritos). Teddy Swims performed his songs “Lose Control” and “The Door,” followed by a rendition of Rihanna’s song “Stay.” Jessie Murph performed her songs “Wild Ones” and “I Hope It Hurts,” followed by a rendition of The Fugees’s song “Killing Me Softly With His Song.”
Some of the best performances of the night came from Sabrina Carpenter, who delivered strong performances of her songs “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso,” Chappell Roan with her performance of her hit song “Good Luck, Babe!,”, and Benson Boone with the energetic performance of his song “Beautiful Things.”.
Other performances included those by Karol G, LISA, Shawn Mendes, Fat Joe with Anitta and DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion with Yuki Chiba, Rauw Alejandro, Halsey, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Lenny Kravitz with Quavo, and LL COOL J with Public Enemy.
