This March, a heat wave in the West broke records, making March 2026 the hottest March in US history. At the same time, AI Fruit Love Island (Love Island except it’s all AI and with fruits) has been going viral on TikTok. Both of these events show how we are cooked: literally and figuratively- AI will only increase global temperature, and as it does, more people will lose their ability to think critically. 

Many people already know that AI is bad for the environment because it uses lots of water, but what people don’t think about is how much electricity AI consumes– companies like OpenAI need staggering amounts of electricity to not only train their AI, but also fine-tune it, as well as implement it in real life, leading to increased carbon dioxide emissions and pressures on electrical grids, both of which contribute to climate change/global warming.

When people are overly reliant on AI, they lose their critical thinking and problem solving skills. This leads to them enjoying genuine slop (really bad shows and movies) like AI love island because they can’t understand actual movies and tv shows with depth, and more bad and bland movies/tv shows (Like Stranger Things 5) are produced to cater to this audience.

Overall, AI Fruit Love Island is a warning of what the future of movies and shows can look like, and AI’s effect on the world is already visible. If people want to help, they should avoid using AI and try to use their brains critically.
