Get excited
Earth Day is the celebration of our home, a day for all of us! You’ve most likely heard “Earth Day is everyday”, and it’s true.
This day is simply a reminder to treat our planet with kindness, since it’s the only one we’ve got.
History
The very first Earth Day was in 1970. In 1969, after the Santa Barbara oil spill, U.S. senator Gaylord Nelson proposed the Idea of Earth Day. This would then be celebrated on April 22nd. It was a call to action, eventually blossoming into a yearly tradition. Earth day wasn’t officially global until 1990, including 141 countries.
Shout out to you students, the day of April 22nd was marked as a way to encourage the youth to participate. This date landed between spring break and final exams.

You can make a change
Our home, Earth, has done so much for us, and it’s our job to pay it forward.
No, you’re not being asked to weave your blankets from kroger bags. There are simple, effortless changes you can make to create and impact. If you’ve heard of these things before, then you should already be doing them!
If you see trash that missed the can, pick it up and throw it in there. It takes two seconds, and you could be preventing that trash from drifting into wildlife.
Conserve water. You don’t need the sink running for the entire duration of your teeth brushing. Are you really too lazy to turn the knob?
Plant a tree and other plants. It’s not only super helpful, and essential for our green sanctuary, but also an enjoyable activity. It might just become your new fun hobby.
Buy reusable bags. On top of reducing plastic, you’ll look stylish as well. No more bag tearing!
Please consider caring for what has cared for us since the beginning of time.
Happy Earth Day!
