Have you ever wondered what athletes do in their free time? Lily Johnson, a Senior here at Lakota West, plays Varsity girls basketball. She has been playing basketball for 12 years, and high school varsity all four years. She plans to attend college and play basketball at Trine University. She plans to study Exercise science as of right now. In her free time, she likes to hang out with friends, and sometimes go to the gym or shoot around in her driveway. She spends 2-3 hours in the gym a day so about 14 hours in a week. She says her favorite thing about playing basketball is how it makes her feel, it brings her joy. The downside she says would have to be trying to manage her basketball schedule on top of school. She has enjoyed all her years of high school basketball and is looking forward to playing in college but does not plan on continuing her career after college. Being a student-athlete is a great opportunity and comes with a lot of fun, you should definitely cherish and take advantage of it before it is too late.
