Police Beat: Tenth Edition

Hotel Stabbing

Kirsten Battle is being held in the Butler County Jail for stabbing a man at a West Chester hotel on Mulhauser Rd. She’s charged with domestic violence and felonious assault. Battle allegedly stabbed the victim with a 4-inch blade multiple times in the back. Battle is being electronically monitored and has a bond set to $55,000.

Bullets Found at Mattress Firm

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shot fired into a Mattress Firm store near the Kenwood Towne Centre at around 4:20 pm. It all started when two people were shooting at each other when one of the bullets fired into the store. Thankfully, nobody was injured. However, the vehicles have fled northbound onto Montgomery Rd. and haven’t been found since.

Grandmother Charged for Shooting Granddaughter

43-year-old Mia Desiree Harris has been arrested after shooting her 6-month-old grandchild in the head, one of the bullets also grazed the baby’s mother. After shooting the infant Harris took off in a vehicle at around 1:50 am and was later found by Ohio State Highway Patrol going the wrong way down I-75. Harris later got onto State Route 129 and was later apprehended back at the scene of the crime. Harris believes the 6-month-old is her grandchild, thus shooting the baby intentionally. The baby was flown to UC West Chester Hospital but was transferred to Avondale’s Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The baby has gone through two surgeries but remains in critical condition. Harris is charged with felonious assault on three accounts without bond.

Kid’s R Kids Daycare Fire

Kids ‘R’ Kids Daycare located on Union Centre Blvd. remained closed after a furnace fire. Firefighters responded to the fire at around 2 pm and the building was safely evacuated. The building has sustained water and smoke damage. Children were picked up at a nearby business and it is still being investigated with the damages.
