A book that everyone should read at least once in their lifetime is the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Each book in the series is fantastic, building on the last and leaving readers with numerous questions about society and what will happen next. The series includes The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and the brand-new addition, Sunrise on the Reaping, which I still need to read.
I will be ranking the movies (not the books) based purely on my opinion, rating them on a scale from one to ten.
The Hunger Games – 10/10
This movie is absolute cinema. The original film is one of the best I have ever watched. Everything, from the casting to the editing, the scenes, and the setting, is perfect. Jennifer Lawrence was an ideal choice for Katniss and embodied the character beautifully, turning the fictional Hunger Games winner into someone we all know and love from the books.
Catching Fire – 100/10
Again, this is absolute cinema. I actually love this movie more than the first because of the emotional depth and how it builds on the previous film. Everything is perfect in this one as well, especially the ending scenes with all of the tributes escaping the hunger games once and for all.
Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 – 8/10
I have to admit that while these movies are both good, I preferred the first two. They were still enjoyable, but I felt they weren’t as engaging and could have benefited from being longer or combined into one film.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – 1000/10
This movie was amazing. The casting was outstanding, and the scenes and emotions were so well thought out and directed. It features numerous plot twists that really bring the characters to life.
