Florida State Left Out

The College Football Committee on Sunday announced the four teams in the College Football playoffs. The Committee omitted the 13-0 and Power 5 conference ACC champions Florida State Seminoles.

The team based out of Tallahassee, Florida, will miss the 2023 College football playoffs. Everybody is questioning the committee after they let one-loss teams like Alabama and Texas in and not the 13-0 Seminoles. They became the first Power 5 undefeated team in history to miss out on the College football playoffs. The four teams that were voted in were Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama. Florida State finished one spot out at 5 getting a tough draw against Georgia in the Orange Bowl.

Secondly, fans were questioning why Florida State was left out. Many people believe that it was due to their star quarterback getting injured. Jordan Travis, the team quarterback and potential Heisman candidate, suffered a season-ending injury in his left leg against non-conference opponent North Alabama. This past Saturday in the ACC championship game they played the 14th-ranked Louisville Cardinals, true freshman Brock Glenn started for the Seminoles edging past the Cardinals 16-6.

When asked about the choice, a local Florida State fan, Owen Cronk, calls this decision by the committee “devastating and at a loss for words”. He also believes that Florida State might not be one of the “best” four teams but is the most “deserving”. Many fans and celebrities are backing the Seminoles as Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban’s phone number was leaked. Florida State fans call the number saying irritating things about Nick Saban and Alabama. Nick Saban calls it all a “joke” about how some of these fans act.

Florida State’s season might not have ended as they wanted, but they will still get a shot to prove themselves against Georgia in the Orange Bowl on December 30th. Florida State also has the number three incoming recruiting class in the country, as well as possibly grabbing some transfers along the way. Florida State has nothing to frown upon at the end of this season, heading into a promising season next year.
