Regretting You, starring Mason Thames and Mckenna Grace, premiered on October 24th. The movie grossed a little less than $27 million at the box office worldwide, and earned an overall rating of 86% on the Popcornometer. With two romantic plot lines and lots of twists within each relationship, the movie is bringing in a lot of teenagers to the theaters. Some adults do not like this movie as much as younger generations, but nonetheless, it has been a big hit.
Synopsis
Directed by Josh Boone, the movie follows Clara Grant (Mckenna Grace) and her mom, Morgan Grant (Allison Williams), and their family, which is full of many secrets. After a devastating car accident, their lives are forever changed, and their definitions of love are altered. Miller (Mason Thames) and Jonah (Dave Franco) are Clara and Morgan’s love interests, respectively, and all ends happily, which should be a sign that the movie would receive good reviews.
Review
Personally, I thought the movie was very good. It was the perfect mixture of sappy and funny moments, making it a very heartfelt movie. Each corny moment followed suit after a gut-wrenching scene, so I thought the balance was equal, unlike those who find it overly cheesy. Because the plot is so full of twists, the corny moments add comic relief, but I can see where people are getting their opinions from.
I also believe Mason Thames and Mckenna Grace are some of the most talented teenage actors right now. Thames, in particular, has two box office record movies, with both Black Phone 2 and Regretting You making the top charts. Those who are criticizing Thames and Grace’s acting abilities are being too harsh, for they are still very young and have so much to learn. Despite the two only being 18 years old, I thought this movie showcased their abilities as actors.
Thames and Grace have also been dating since around April of 2025, which made the chemistry between their characters in the movie so much more real. They were able to pull off so many moments that even some older actors can’t, in my opinion.
Overall, I expect both of their careers are going to go really far, and Regretting You has only helped them.
