On October 18th, 2025, a No Kings protest occurred across the world once again. In the United States, over 2,500 ‘No Kings’ events were planned, and nearly 7 million people turned up to these peaceful rallies.
The protests were calm on Saturday, with police reporting that there were no protest-related arrests or incidents, even in large cities such as New York City and Austin, which had large turnouts. During the protests, signs were waved and held, singing and dancing took place, and speeches were recited. On the No Kings site, it further emphasizes the importance of peaceful protest, stating that it is a core principle of the events and mentioning that the presence of weapons is not allowed.
Our area also held protests this weekend. On the corner of Tylersville and Cox Rd, a peaceful ‘No Kings’ protest took place from 12 pm-2 pm. It also occurred in Mason, on the corner of Tylersville and Mason-Montgomery Rd. from 12 pm-2 pm.
Despite these protests occurring mostly in the United States, ‘No Kings’ protests also took place in other countries such as France, the UK, Germany, Spain, Canada, Italy, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Australia, and Guam.
The No Kings Movement is about democracy over dictatorship. Their website says that Trump was attempting to have a “coronation” on June 14th, yet failed. Now, he is currently doubling down by sending troops to our cities, targeting immigrants and their families, cutting down healthcare, environmental, and education systems, along with threatening to take over elections. They also say that Trump believes his rule is absolute, which is part of the reason that the people are joining the movement and fighting back. The No Kings Movement is now more than a slogan, the website says, but it is essentially the foundation that our country was built on. The power is given to the people, not one singular person or entity.
In response to the millions of people gathering in protest on the 18th, Trump posted an AI-generated video of him in a fighter jet, dropping feces onto a fake protesting crowd. This 19-second video also included the song “Danger Zone’ by Kenny Loggins, who asked it to be taken out immediately.
