On Friday, September 19th, Kings Island’s annual Halloween Haunt had its opening night. Like every year, people flocked to the park to experience the usual Halloween thrills, such as haunted houses and scare actors.
However, the new season of Haunt has brought multiple changes, some of which have gone over better than others. A 2025 Gold pass now does not get holders into the haunted mazes; they now have to purchase the “Haunted attraction pass,” which is an additional $10 to enter the mazes. This attraction pass allows unlimited access to all the haunted mazes, excluding the brand new Conjuring House.
The Conjuring House consists of many different rooms from each movie in the Conjuring universe, like the crooked-man hallway from The Conjuring 2. There are around 10-15 rooms to walk through, and there are 4 tour guides to lead people through the rooms, helping you to escape. There are even jump scares in every room, from people jumping out of windows, walls, or doorways to a woman flying back and forth on the ceiling! In some instances, crawling through wardrobes or being “taken” will be a part of the experience. Altogether, the house is about 20 minutes.
While this new attraction may seem like a great opportunity, prices for this experience can range anywhere from 15-25 dollars, depending on where the ticket is purchased. Not only are tickets expensive, but they are also one-use only, meaning that someone may have to pay 25 dollars for one walk through of the haunted house. Combined with the two-and-a-half-hour lines, The Conjuring seems like an overpriced waste of time.
While there are new and exciting additions to the beloved haunt, the alterations in price and entry counteract the excitement for many. People love to save their money, so when they see a jump in price, they debate if it’s worth it. With rising prices and mixed reactions, fans are left wondering whether Kind Island’s haunt will continue to thrill or scare away its audience in a different way.
