Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has been rising in popularity recently. She really peaked with the release of “Espresso” in 2024. She released her latest album, Man’s Best Friend, on August 29. The album cover already sparked considerable controversy back when she announced the album in June, but now the songs have added to it. This album has not sat well with many people, not only with men, but some women, too.
Carpenter is known for her sensual music style, but people believe she has pushed it too far this time. Some think she is pushing back the timeline of women’s rights and creating the image they used to have, as an object to men. In 2025, this really upsets many women, and they will no longer continue to support her. They are really disturbed by her presence nowadays and wish she would go back to her old style, like from “emails i can’t send.”
Many fans think the album’s purpose is to be sarcastic, though. A lot of her lines suggest this, too. In the song “Go Go Juice,” she indirectly calls out some of her exes, including Shawn Mendes, Barry Keoghan, Joshua Bassett, and Dylan O’Brien. She also directly targets men in general throughout the entirety of “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry,” “Goodbye,” “Manchild,” and “Tears.” She is known for her snarky comments and calling people out, so it was no surprise that she included them in the songs.
Either way, Carpenter has openly said in the past that she does not care about her haters, for they still listen to her music. Her carefree, playful attitude is what a lot of her fans enjoy about her, and they have loved hearing more of it throughout this album. She performed “Tears” at the VMAs on September 8th, and it was a big hit per usual. Overall, her reputation has not been affected by those who despise her.
