FC Cincinnati has announced the signing of Argentine Winger Yamil Asad. Asad’s contract will last until the end of the season, with an option for the 2025 season.
Asad has been without a team since the end of last MLS season when DC United declined his contract option and made him a free agent. He has been training with FCC for the last few weeks before signing the contract to help maintain his fitness.
Asad started his career in Argentina, playing at Velez Sarsfield, where he would make 57 appearances and contribute to 9 goals.
Asad would come to the MLS in 2017 and 2018 on two different loans. The first was joining Atlanta United for their inaugural season, where he would get 7 goals and 11 assists in 33 matches. Then he would go to DC United on loan where he would have 9 goals and 5 assists in 31 games.
After that 2nd loan, Asad would sign for DC United permanently in 2020, making 39 appearances and getting 5 goals and 3 assists. Afterwards, he would make a short stint in Chile where he would get 1 goal in 14 matches for Universidad Catolica, before joining DC United for a third time.
Last season, Asad would have one goal in 26 games, in which all but 5 appearances came off the bench.
Asad has also played with numerous FCC’s current players in the past. He has previously played with Luciano Acosta, Miles Robinson, and Alec Kann.
