In the fall of 2019, Gracie Abrams released her first single, “Mean It,” signed by Interscope Records. This was the start of her rise to fame, leading her to be known by millions and have the number-one trending song in the United States. But how does this happen overnight? Well in simpler words, it doesn’t. Gracie is known for singing loud on stage for thousands of fans, but few know, something that amazing starting with secretly writing songs on the floor of her bedroom.
How Did Taylor Swift Impact her Growing Career?
In 2022, Gracie is invited by her now-close friend, Taylor Swift, to join her on her new upcoming world tour, The Eras Tour. Later in early 2023 when spring came, Gracie Abrams was one of many artists seeking the attention of fans whose music taste was similar to their own. Going in with the mindset of proving herself and getting the validation her music deserves, she was not disappointed. One of her more recent releases, “That’s So True”, managed to be the number-one song in the UK according to Spotify’s charts when it was first released.
Her friendship with Swift only grew stronger the more time they spent together. In fact, in an interview with Vogue, Abrams explains how Taylor is, “a dear friend who I can feel safe with.” Their unexpected friendship even led to writing a song together that would be featured on Gracie’s most recent album called “us. (feat. Taylor Swift)”.
Paving Her Own Path
Roughly halfway through her time performing live with Taylor Swift, Gracie released her sophomore album, The Secret of Us, along with a couple of new singles to help promote her album dropping in the summer of ‘24. Not only was this an extremely successful album, but later would be the result of Gracie being nominated Artist of the Year at the 2024 Grammies, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in the 2025 Grammies.
Considering the fact that this is only Abrams’ second studio album, fans are anxiously awaiting to see what she has up her sleeve next and how Gracie can only rise from here.
