As the promotions are going on for her newest movie “It Ends with Us,” based on the Colleen Hoover novel, there is growing criticism of her. Many are calling her rude and a “mean girl” as interviews from her past start to resurface. In a specific interview from 2016, the Norwegian journalist, Kjersti Flaa, makes a comment congratulating her on her (very visible) pregnancy. In response to this Lively responds “Congrats on your little bump!” in a very rude and demeaning tone. Some fans defend Lively by saying it was rude of the interviewer to point that out and she was just defending herself to get her point across. It was also discovered that the interviewer at the time had just found out she was infertile which led to even more hate directed at Lively.
More current criticism is towards her hair care line “Blake Brown.” Many are simply saying that her hair was never anything to envy so it makes no sense as to why she would put out a product that wasn’t in demand. Even more concern grew when she stated in an interview that her “secret” to perfect hair was that she stopped using conditioner. Many were quick to question her and images from her newest movie began circulating as people pointed out her hair and how they thought it didn’t look as good as she claimed it did.
Throughout all of this drama, Blake has remained silent and continued with movie promotions which leads many to wonder if she will address any of this or apologize to anyone she harmed. There is a large amount of debate on whether or not any of this criticism is valid or if most of it, being from so many years ago, does not reflect on her as a person now. It is all up to the viewer though as to if she deserves the criticism or not.
