Two police officers were sent to the hospital last week on Friday. The crash occurred in Columbus, Ohio at around 2:45 AM.
While two police officers were transporting a suspect to the Franklin County jail, a sedan hit the cruiser at the Starling St & W Broad St intersection. After hitting the cruiser, the suspect tried to drive away, but two additional cruisers that were called in were able to stop him. After being stopped, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly caught.
The driver of the Sudan is suspected to have been drinking before he hit the police cruiser. He was also taken to a nearby hospital with both police officers.
In a statement to WHIO, the Columbus Division of Police stated that both officers are in stable condition.
Two days later, on Sunday, February 25th, two more officers were hit by a police cruiser in very similar circumstances. In this accident, the perpetrator ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of the cruiser. As with the first crash, both officers were taken to a hospital and are said to be okay.
This series of coincidences has sparked some speculation among law enforcement in the local Columbus area, but there is currently no known connection between the events.
