West is offering the ACT on March 1, 2022.
Every year, Lakota West offers the ACT for all current juniors. During the week of February 14th, students have received information in their language arts bells, including a student/family notice and a spring of 2022 testing packet.
On the day of the test, juniors will arrive at normal arrival time. Upon the beginning of the test, students will fill out a number of non-test questions regarding their financial, personal, and educational statuses.
Then, they will take the test. The ACT is 175 minutes, with breaks implemented. There are a total of 215 questions with 4 separate sections: English, math, reading, and science. The optional essay section of the ACT will not be offered on Tuesday, but can be taken at another date, if necessary.
A recent “relief” for some students is the requirement of submitting ACT test scores within college applications has been lifted. Due to the pandemic, a majority of universities have exempted students from including their SAT and/or ACT scores when applying. The problem that students are not realizing is that colleges often use these test scores to place them into appropriate general ed classes, such as math composition classes. While not submitting your test scores to schools has their benefits, not submitting them may result in multiple placement tests. Contrarily, standardized tests, such as the ACT, can be retaken many times until individuals are satisfied with their scores.
Seniors and sophomores are not required to attend school on this day.
