HOSA stands for Health Occupations of Students of America. The club’s mission is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students. Essentially, HOSA helps Lakota students meet the needs of the health care community. Here at Lakota West, HOSA is widely student run, yet is overseen by Ms. Nikki Roether and Mr. Michael Brown. The HOSA leadership team is led by Maddie Saylor (president), Gracie West (vice president), Iason O’neal (secretary), Bella Gallo (treasurer), Patrick Lakeburg (communications), and Paige Worley and Anthony Shalakov (competition advisors). HOSA meets every other Wednesday from 3-3:30 pm in room 285. Currently, students are finalizing which events they plan to compete in this school year. Regionals, state, and national competitions will begin to take place in the spring semester; therefore the upcoming months will consist of preparation.
