Women Empowering Women

Women Empowering Women

When: The second and fourth Monday of every month

Where: Innovation Hub

Advisor: Mahoney

1 in 4 women in America reported being bullied in a 2017 National Center of Education report.  This bullying shows up in rumors, name-calling, and from the power imbalance between men and women. Needless to say, this type of bullying also occurs right here in the halls of Lakota West.  This number is way too high! If you or a friend are being bullied, or you want to help support young women, you can come to the Women Empowering club for snacks, fun activities, and important information.

The goal of the Women Empowering Women is to end that disrespect and uplift women. The members of the club speak very highly of the club, saying they “uplift members and create a safe and happy atmosphere.” They say that every new meeting, the group goes around and hears the new accomplishments that every member did that they want to show.  Sometimes the group participates in other self-esteem building exercises or hears from guest speakers who are women navigating careers in men-dominated fields.  Young men come to the club as well.
